How to calculate the amount of light needed in a room?

Home is the environment in which you spend most of your life. The environment in which you need to feel at ease and be able to carve out some space in which to relax.

Considering the fact that every room in your home has a different use, speaking in terms of lighting you need to choose the appropriate one for the space of installation.

Here we give you the elements to understand the light lines to use depending on the area of your home to be lit and how to calculate the amount of light needed.

Living room lighting

The living room is definitely the focal point of the home, the place where domestic life is most concentrated.

For this reason, choosing the right lighting is of paramount importance. When designing the lighting, in addition to the size of the room, you have to take into account the shades of the furniture and walls.

As for the amount of light, for a room of 20 square meters, the total amount of light sources to be used should be 400W.

Ideally, you should use an energy-saving light bulb, so you can also cut your electricity costs by up to 80%.

Kitchen lighting

Continuing to talk about led lighting for the home, another place to keep in mind a lot is the kitchen.

Since this is one of the most used areas of the house and where the light stays on several hours a day, the best solution here too is to install energy-saving LED lights.

As for the light intensity, it is recommended to have at least 35W in this place.

In addition to the main light, lights can be installed under wall units so that the worktop, hood area and sink are also perfectly illuminated.

Bedroom lighting

The bedroom is another room that must have a lot of importance in designing the proper lighting. There are many people who use this place to study, read in the evening, but also to work.

However, if you only spend time in this room at night, you can think about using led light lines behind the bed rail and two lamps on the side nightstands.

In this case the amount of light to be used is about 20W. To make the atmosphere even better, there are those who opt for the diffused lights that can be adjusted through remote control and can be dimmable.

Bathroom lighting

Finally, even to illuminate the bathroom you have to follow very precise rules, which require attention in the sockets. That is, they must be away from sources of water at least 60 centimeters.

The bathroom also does not require a lot of lighting, on a bathroom of about 6 square meters adequate lighting is around 10W.

In case you need some additional light, this is generally provided by the lamps near the mirrors and the natural light from the window.

Led lighting for the home is also a great solution for the bathroom if you want to light your home without chandeliers.
